“Until I discovered Dancers Boutique, I struggled to find anyone locally who could offer this type of service and it now saves me travelling into London with a dozen or so excited teenagers or being reliant on them getting the correct make/style without my help.”

The Pointe Shoe Centre
Find The Pointe Shoe Centre, a specialised area within Dancers Boutique, which is located in the town of Amersham, Buckinghamshire.
The Pointe Shoe Centre is located in the new Dancers Boutique store in Amersham, Bucks. where our aim is to provide excellent and knowledgeable service, good quality products and an ever increasing selection of brands and styles of dancewear and footwear.
The Pointe Shoe Centre has already become a busy area in the shop and has been visited by young dancers buying their first pair of shoes, dancers in professional training and teachers who have lost count of how many pairs they have had but still appreciate the need to be fitted correctly and to take time to choose the right shoes.
When you make an appointment at the Pointe Shoe Centre, you will receive a thorough fitting by staff who are experienced in pointe themselves and have been trained by Grishko and Freed of London and in the Esther Juon method.
As we know how exciting it is to buy your first pointes, we will do everything we can to ensure you enjoy the experience and will give our full attention and advice throughout your appointment. If you require padding, we can advise and show you the types of toe pads and Bunheads accessories that may suit you.
We stock a huge selection of sizes and width fittings of: Freed, including the beautiful and recently re-launched 'Studio' shoe; the increasingly popular Grishko '2007'; five contrasting styles of Bloch pointe shoes and, if necessary, can source harder or softer backed versions of your chosen style if required.

Paula is passionate about dance and has been involved in the dance and health industry for all of her working life. She started her full time training at the Urdang Academy, London in the 1980s where she trained in RAD, ISTD and Cechetti as well as studying Russian ballet technique which was Miss Urdangs distinguishing trademark at that time! Her desire was always to teach and she started teaching classes to the junior school and boys at Urdang even before she graduated.
Paula went on to teach RAD and ISTD at a school in Spain and then for a local school in Buckinghamshire for many years. Progressing from that, Paula furthered her training and taught in the fitness industry for 10 years also qualifying as a sports massage therapist. During this time she studied as a mature student for a Business degree which has given her skills to run Dancers Boutique.
In the years before taking on Dancers Boutique Paula built up a very successful therapy practice, working on sports people and continually increasing her knowledge of physiology, exercise and business and she now really enjoys putting all her acquired knowledge and experience into her dance shop.
Dancers Boutique has been established as a dancewear specialist for 30 years but has been completely rejuvenated and given a new lease of life more recently. It is now a central place for dancers and their families to visit to get advice and help as well as purchase everything they need for all styles of dance, performance and gymnastics.

Paula Nye took ownership of Dancers Boutique in 2008 and moved the shop to its current spacious premises in Amersham in 2009. She has enjoyed developing the business and getting to know all the local schools, teachers and dancers. Paula loves being with dancers all day and finds it so exciting to be the first to hear about new dance products that she can tell her customers about. She works closely with her pointe shoe suppliers who include Bloch, Freed, Grishko and Merlet as well as accessory brands Tendu and TurnBoard; and spends a lot of time researching, buying and promoting new stock that she knows will benefit her customers. All the staff at Dancers Boutique are passionate about dance and very knowledgeable about what they sell, continually updating their training and customer service skills.
Something was missing!
When Paula took over Dancers Boutique she could see that something was missing for local ballet dancers, their teachers and also local full time students. There was nowhere outside London that dancers could go to have pointe shoes fitted properly! When girls went to London they had to trek from shop to shop and were often served by 'sales assistants' who had little knowledge of ballet or fittings.
The Pointe Shoe Centre was created within Dancers Boutique when we moved to a bigger shop in 2009.
There is now a place that dancers can visit with their parents or teachers and be fitted correctly with pointe shoes. Paula is passionate about offering a thorough, knowledgeable and positive experience to her customers and she and her other two fitters have ongoing training with Grishko, Freed of London and study research by Lisa Howell and Esther Joun.
What do we stock?
We believe that every foot is completely different and every dancer has different needs when it comes to their pointe shoes. We therefore don't have a 'favourite' or preferred shoe but keep a good stock of different brands and styles and treat every customer with an open mind.
Makes we currently stock are Freed, Grishko, Bloch and Merlet and we keep different styles of each and are always researching new shoes to add to our collection, of which, the Merlet brand was a recent introduction. With Paulas knowledge and experience with sports therapy, she is very keen to fit a shoe that will be safe, functional and suitable for the anatomy of the foot and dancer. She knows what is expected of the dancer, whether they are a new starter to pointe or a full time student in training and fits accordingly.
Dancers also have different needs and requirements for padding and we advise and try out toe pads and Bun Heads accessories on each dancer to see which is most suitable for them and their shoes.
